I’m seriously considering splitting the blog in two, with a tech blog and a pilsen/personal blog. I tried to do this back in 2000-2001 with my various Manilla sites. there are a few ways I might do this, and to be frank, giving my current living situation it might just be another thing that never gets updated. we shall see.

Friday just got even busier. So many choices. P.E.R.R.O. is participating in an environmentally themed art show this Friday at the Polvo gallery in Pilsen.
ENTORNO: GRASS GROWS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE
Opening Reception: Friday, April 28, 2006 from 6pm-10pm
April 28 – May 20, 2006
“ENTORNO: GRASS GROWS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE” explores an united
response to “environment” by re-examining Chicago’s architectural and
physical spaces, public policies, political referendums and urban
culture, moreover it tackles the dynamics of Chicago’s race and class
structures. Artists, community activists and scholars will use
different formats: installation, sculpture, video, photography, mixed
media and painting. From comical satires to specific cultural
examinations, the artistic responses have agency expressing the
opinion and voice of exhibiting artists.

Just a reminder that this month’s show at Phyllis’ Musical Inn with DJ SoundandFury and friends is coming up.

UPDATED: with link.
Go check it out here. The PPG will appreciate your comments.
Get over to 4art tonight, catch the unveiling of Ned’s Giant Robot, the Ink Blot Project, Ron Seymour’s photography, Magda’s fan club, the magnificent and long suffering Robin and ever so much more. Then head up to Translucent Chocolate for Alana Water’s photography and still more (see the earlier post). I’ll be skirting the edges of the festivities in my new fuel cell powered wheel chair, looking for stray republicans to run down.
(Update: Also b e sure to check out Ned Broderick’s one man show at Parts Unknown Gallery, 645 w. 18th st, now through the rest of the month.)
This just in:
Yesterday afternoon, photographer and long time Pilsen resident Michelle
Litvin’s studio was robbed. She was just outside her back door when someone
crept in the street entrance and stole her laptop & credit cards. Working in
digital, a lot of Michelle’s work was on that computer. So if anyone offers
you an Apple laptop, please inform Michelle and the police.
Very sorry to hear this. I know what what it’s like to lose all your images and be laptopless. Yet another reason to back it up. Firewire hard drives cost a couple hundred dollars and are bizniz expenses. And remember kids, when the neighborhood gets gentrified the residents aren’t the only people commuting to work.
From the Northwest Indiana Times:
Chicago Public Radio, which broadcasts in the greater Chicago area and northern Indiana, announced Thursday it will drop all music programming and will cover only public affairs in the form of news and talk shows.
The shift to full-time public affairs and cultural programming, in the planning stage for more than a year, goes into effect in early 2007, according to a statement from Tony Malatia, Chicago Public Radio president and general manager.
I had been given to believe from a knowledgeable source that this was in the works, but they told me that the satellite stations in Morris (WBEQ) and Chesterton (WBEW) would pick up the music. This was also reported by the SunTimes. This is not to be the case, the current music programmers are to develop news shows. This sucks, we’re losing one of the best Jazz hows in the country (Extensions) as well as Passport and the ever curmudgeonly Dick “there hasn’t been any good Jazz since 1948″ Buckley. I dunno know about the recently picked up Sound Opinions, it sort of fits into their new community based news format…
Well, at least they finally got hip and started putting some shows up as podcasts.
Thanks to David for the heads up
